Businesses must adapt to human nature

If companies were to adapt to human nature, more intrinsic motivation, better mutual cooperation, and the full potential of the individual would emerge. Why is it that companies still operate as machines where the employee is just a tiny cog in the wheel? And what is the problem with job descriptions and Human Resource management?
